Schiffbauerdamm

The Theater am Schiffbauerdamm, opened as a theatre in 1892 as the Neues Theater ("new theatre") and the first play to be staged here was Goethe's Iphigenie auf Tauris. Architect Heinrich Seeling designed this Neo-baroque structure. This, the most glamorous theatres in Berlin, was the site of several of legendary playwright Bertold Brecht’s famous theatrical works, including the Three Penny Opera in 1928. The building is currently under historic preservation
